Vintage Port 2014, Quinta Do Crasto

34.99

Iconic 400 year old estate perched on a clifftop overlooking the Douro (between Warres and Taylors) famous for some of the best red table wines, made from indigenous varietals, in Portugal.

Their Ports are not to be sneezed at either, coming from some of the estates oldest vines (between 40 and 60 years old) the grapes are traditionally foot trodden in old lagares for two days with 50% stems left in. Fermentation starts with natural wild yeasts and is arrested by brandy addition when the sugar reads around 8.5º Baumé

Unfined and unfiltered the wine needs decanting. Intensely fresh, modern and dark berry fruited, you can drink it now - although it will keep for another 10 years.

We have sold all the 2009 and are now on the 2010 vintage.
