The Bressan winery, in Gorizia, dates back to the 1600’s and forms part of the strategic landscape of the Farra d’Isonzo. Its wines are steeped in tradition. The Schioppettino is organically farmed 100% Ribolla Nera and bursting with wild blackberries, strawberries and raspberries with a distinctive Friulian rasp of acidity. There is also a touch of the undergrowth and hedgerow to the wine, which hints at the grapes wild origins. The oak treatment is in large 2000 litre barrels so that the fruit is to the fore. As Luca Bressan says ‘I want to drink the wine, not eat the door to the kitchen’.
