Coevo IGT, 2011, Cecchi

49.99

Four generations of Cecchi have made their mark in Tuscany, crafting traditional, long lived, yet eminently drinkable wines since 1893

Coevo is their flagship red, it's not traditional by any means with only 50% being Sangiovese from the Castellina estate in Chianti. 20% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maremma make up the remainder of the blend, so in effect it's a super or supercharged Tuscan.

Each variety is vinified separately and aged individually in barrique for 12 months before blending. Another 6 months in oak adds polish followed by a further 12 months in bottle prior to release.

Complex and elegant with rich, dark, damson and cherry fruit, lifted with a slight aroma of violets with a finish longer than the box set of Breaking Bad.
