Condrieu, La Petite Cote, Yves Cuilleron, 2016

39.49

Originally trained as a mechanic, Yves caught the wine bug back in the 1980’s taking over his uncle Gilles’ vines in Condrieu in 1987. His extraordinarily beautiful, apricot scented, white wines now grace the list of Raymond Blanc’s Manoir as well as raising the profile of the appellation of Condrieu as a whole. Once relatively well known before the Great War, they remained obscure until the 1990's gaining minor fame and popularity principally through the efforts of Chateau Grillet. The wines of Condrieu are perhaps the finest, most graceful- yet restrained expression of Viognier in the whole of France, if not the world, and should be drank young, between 2 to 5 years to experience their astonishing perfume.
