Mazer 'Inferno' Valtellina Superiore, Nino Negri 2013

18.99

Mazèr, meaning “good, beautiful and generous” in the local dialect of Lombardy– sort of the same in Bristolian -is produced from the best grapes in 'Inferno', one of the 4 crus or sub-zones in Valtellina. Twenty percent of the Chiavanesca (Nebbiolo) grapes, picked by hand at the end of September, are slightly dried for 40 days. Then vinified on the skins and aged in small new and once-used French and American oak barrels for 14 months. The remaining 80% matures for 16 months in small French oak barrels.

It’s a truly vibrant and astonishingly beautiful wine with mouthwateringly elegant fruit great acidity and manly tannins.
