This is a step up in intensity and skin contact from their Chinuri, so be prepared. Because of the tannins, it needs food to really strut it’s stuff. Amber in the glass, with a nose of walnuts and apricots, vanilla, apples, and just a lick of fino sherry, this is a barnstorming, kick ass, kind of wine. Mtsvane is made from 30 year old vines, fermented naturally for almost a month, with wild yeasts, in clay qvevri buried in the ground. It’s neither filtered nor fined and full bodied enough for roast chicken or quail.
