The FMC, Chenin Blanc, Ken Forrester, 2016

Sourced from Chenin Blanc vines from Stellenbosch planted in 1967, with natural wild yeast fermentation, and matured in 85% new oak, this collaborative effort between iconic South Africans Ken Forrester and Martin Meinert is straight out of the top draw.

Fantastically rich, weighty and textured, it's just off-dry, due to a small portion of late-harvest, botrytised juice in the final blend. A stand out at a recent tasting (my monthly focus group are damned good tasters) it showed honey and apple notes, together with an almondy nuttiness, and lovely, crisp, nervy, green acidity.
