Sauvignon Touraine, Domaine de Pierre, 2017

“You’re always championing grapes I’ve never heard of, what about Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio”? While I will never stock the latter - Waitrose have at least twenty examples - I will certainly do the former. I have a soft spot for French Sauvignon, and love the wines of the Touraine/Sologne border between the Loire and the Cher. The vineyards are mostly small and family owned, producing concentrated and elegant wines that are almost Sancerre-like in quality – but without the price tag.
