Irouleguy Blanc 'Hegoxuri', Domaine Arretxea, 2016

Made from 70% Gros Manseng, 20% Petit Manseng and 10% Courbu with a 40 hour maceration and partially fermented in barrique this is a remarkable golden straw coloured wine, woven by Rumplestiltskin,  intermingled with honeysuckle flowers and lushly ripe exotic fruits. It's actually made by Therese and Michel Riouspeyrous, whose names are easier to guess, on steep vineyard terraces in the tiny appellation of Irouleguy in the Basque country. (O, B)
