Tokaj Hetszolo, Dry Furmint, 2016

14.99

100% Furmint from the south-facing Nagyszőlő and Hétszőlő vineyards – established in 1502 - on thick loess soil with complex volcanic subsoil. Yields are around 35 hl/ha, and the wine is fermented, and aged, for five months in stainless tanks with weekly batonnage on fine lees. The nose is quite subtle, a tad balsamic, and if you are searching for fruit, then it's of the dried kind, particularly sultanas, so do not serve it too cold! On the palate things really start to get interesting, with notes of lime and ripe pear, lifted by a lick of green apple acidity and a sort of stone sucking minerality.
