A modern style version of Vega Sicilia for less than a pair of funky trainers – what are you waiting for!

Nogal comes from a single, six hectare plot of 100% Tinto Fino,(Tempranillo) on Pago de los Capellanes, Picón parcel.

The grapes undergo a pre-fermentation cold maceration at 14ºC for 6 days followed by a
controlled alcoholic fermentation (in large French oak vats) with indigenous yeasts at 26ºC with pump overs for up to 28 days.

The malolactic fermentation occurs slowly, without the addition of bacteria, at 22ºC for 20 days in new French oak then the wine is aged for a further 22 months in new French (Allier) barrels and bottled without cold treatment, clarification or filtration.

It’s big, heady, very concentrated and intense already with a deliciously soft finish from the long oak ageing. I think it’s ready now but that’s only cos I can’t leave it alone.
