Terras Gauda, 'O Rosal', Rias Baixas, 2016

The Galicians have a saying, which poorly translated means, ‘Although the Romans took all the gold, at least they left behind Albarino wine’. The Rias Baixas vineyards are dominated by the influence of the Atlantic - rias means inlet - and as result the wines are bright and bone dry. Cloudy, damp pine strewn and wild, the O Rosal subzone is planted to Loureira and Caino Blanco giving pine kernel, peach, white flowers, green plums and apples edged with a grape acidity and the kind of minerality you can only hope to find in Chablis.
